Albuquerque, New Mexico is an awesome city known for it's legendary hot air balloons, amazing food, and of course, it's where the show Breaking Bad was filmed. As a HUGE fan of Breaking Bad, it's needless to say that I've visited Albuquerque a few times while traveling around the USA.
If you're looking for a fun roadtrip idea, drive down historic Route 66 on your way in and out of Albuquerque and take a trip down memory lane. I always try to take this famous road whenever I can. Although you can go a lot faster on a the new multi-lane highway, it's always fun to slow down and enjoy the journey when you can.
If you're a big fan of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman from the hit show, Breaking Bad, you can check out tons of filming locations all around this cool city. If you visit in October, be sure to check out the annual Hot Air Balloon Festival to see hundreds of balloons launch into the sky. If you've never been up in one, that would be an awesome first time! Some other fun things to do are check out the Sandia Peak Tramway, visit a variety of interesting museums, or join in on some of the awesome tours Albuquerque has to offer.
After you're done touring, grab a bite to eat at one of Albuquerque's awesome restaurants. If you want to spice up your food, head to one of the city's unique hot sauce stores to grab some of the best toppings on the market. This is a great stop to pick up gifts if you like to collect things for your friends and family during your travels.
Outside of the city is an offbeat attraction many people may not even know exists. Albuquerque is one of the places in the USA where you can find a musical highway. As you drive over the rumble strips at exactly 45 miles per hour, you can hear America The Beautiful play. Click the video below to hear it for yourself!
