We all know driving a Jeep isn't the quickest or most economical vehicle on the road. That's why I was super excited when iDrive USA reached out to me with a solution. The iDrive is a throttle response controller to help you accelerate faster or save on gas. The iDrive is vehicle-specific. You can choose from Jeep, Ford, Dodge, Chevrolet, GMC, Nissan, Toyota, BMW, and Subaru vehicles. I am running the iDrive for Jeep JK 2007-2018. They even have colorful face plates to match your whip! The blue colorplate matches my Jeep perfectly 😍
Here's how it works:
The iDrive has four tuning modes - Economy (for better fuel consumption), Ultimate (for more power), Auto/AC (automatically corrects throttle sensitivity for you), and Normal, which is how your vehicle runs currently. Economy and Ultimate modes each have settings that can be adjusted as well on a scale 0-9. Ultimate 9 (U9) is the most powerful, whereas U1 is a more gentle acceleration. I personally cranked that up to U9 and have been looovvvinnggg the response!!!
The Ultimate mode does not increase horsepower, it simply changes the way the throttle responds and eliminates that horrible lag. Just because we drive Jeeps doesn't mean it needs to feel like it! There are a ton of different settings to adjust based on what you're doing. You can even put it in AC mode and it will automatically change for you.
The iDrive is also great for towing because it's easier on your Jeep or truck and uses less fuel 😏 This will also benefit my Jeep when I lift it to make it more zippy and efficient. You can flip between the different settings to customize your ride, just make sure the vehicle is in park first. Here's a breakdown of the different modes and settings:
Eco (Fuel Saving) Mode:
- Slow speed response
- Reduces fuel consumption
- Great for hitting the trails/crawling
- 10 settings to customize sensitivity
Ultimate Mode:
- Full speed response
- Suitable for racing/drift drive
- 10 settings to customize sensitivity
AC (Auto) Mode:
- Automatically adjusts throttle depths based on pedal pressure for best speed response
- It does the work for you to have the most efficient ride
Normal Mode:
- Factory throttle response
- Standard response/this is how your Jeep runs currently
Another super amazing thing about the iDrive is how easy it is to install! This plug and play device won't take long to set up. Simply plug it into the accelerator pedal and that's it! For a clean, wire-free look, remove the knee bolster panel and run the wire through there as shown. The iDrive itself has a strong adhesive backing that comes with it, but I chose to velcro mine so I can easily remove the panel later on without having to re-adjust the wires or iDrive. I placed mine near the ignition cylinder, but you can put yours wherever you want.
Overall, I am super happy with the iDrive! Ultimate mode is my favorite by far - the lag is seriously gone!!!! I know I know, you've heard people say that all over the 'Gram, but is it really true? .....Yes! When I have it set on Ultimate Mode 9 (the highest), and I noticed it accelerates much faster. I have a long roadtrip coming up so I plan to test out the Economy mode and see how much gas it saves me! I'll update this blog with my findings 😎
The iDrive works with both manual and automatic transmissions. Plus, the iDrive comes with a lifetime warranty and a 30-day guarantee to try it out and see for yourself. You can find your vehicle-specific iDrive here.
